Kanongyudh et al were the pioneers on costing studies in Thailand since 1980. After Viroj et al's work in 1987 developing standard methodology for hospital cost estimation; there were many subsequent studies concerning costing of hospital services, health centre services and other public health programmes. It is timely to synthesize these findings for public access in website under Senior Research Scholar programme in health economics and financing jointly supported by Thailand Research Fund and Health Systems Research Institute. As there is a rapid changing role of the state in health sector; many hospitals and universities will become autonomous entities. Then information on cost of production is vital for such future innovations. SRS hopes that these information are useful for academics, researchers and policy makers.
